Increase Your Traffic For Free

by: Joseph Pratt

Okay, you have your website and now you want more visitors. Don’t think you’re the only one, bub, but you can learn from the experience of others. Subscribing to web directories is one solution that the ICMediaDirect.com Consulting Division both recommends and executes for clients in order to increase traffic. Like any SEO task, its effort – and smart effort always works best.

1) Traffic. Close to 20% of all traffic comes from web directories. That’s either quite a heap to tap into or a massive chunk to disregard. Simply put, the choice is up to you – there are fishes in the water, do you want to cast out your lines or not? If so, let’s hit the web directories.

2) Get Linked. Search engines include link popularity in their rankings. Using web directories enmeshes your website into linkage, which increases visitors. This creates better rankings – hence more traffic to your web property.

3) Hyperlinked Keywords. Link popularity develops by incorporating keywords into the hyperlinks. Submissions to web directories should include relevant keywords. It makes your site easier to find and boosts the visibility of said links across the spectrum of search engines. More free traffic.

4) Keyword Optimization. It’s doubly important to mention keyword research as it can help you in more ways than one, so choose carefully. The links created within web directories essentially act as recommendations to search engine algorithms and the search engine will attempt to match your hyperlink keywords with search phrases entered by users. So, by harmonizing your keywords to themes related to your website, you will boost visibility.

5) Diversify. Submit to different web directories and find them through search engines. The reason being is that they already have decent standing by virtue of you finding them from the search sites. Play around, get creative, and use key words in combination with topics relevant to your site to find the best web directories. Increase your visibility by hitching on to existing and working directories - if you found it, others will too.

6) Monkey see, monkey do. Mimic your hyperlinks to appear like those seen in Google Adwords. Whatever wordings helps make those ads rank well for Adwords will only help your viability through search, and in turn, web directory ranking. Success begets success.

7) Mind your web directory manners. Treating it like a doormat (by ignoring simple rules to follow, like don’t use too much promotional nomenclature, no foul language, etc) is no good. Play by the rules, or don’t play at all.

8) Web Directory 2.0. Oh yeah! Webmasters are privy to vastly improved web directories with uniform scripts and the functionality of web directories is beginning to improve drastically. A directory can do more with your listing, like displaying logos and basic contact info. The web directory itself has become more pleasing to the eye – and, I should add, for its own good!

Web directories are there for the taking. There is little harm in trying them and with some effort, big rewards may be reaped through increased traffic. What’s more is that web directories (just like this advice column and ICMediaDirect.com’s consulting services for clients) are free. You can’t beat that.

How to Get the Ranking You Always Wanted!

by: Matt Colyer

Is your web site well ranked (In the top ten search results) in the results? If not, you need to read this and get the ranking you always dreamed of getting with your web site! I will show you how to get your web site a top ten ranking in the search engines with these few easy-to-do steps.

Site Design - The web site's structure will decide how the spiders read your web site and the speed of them indexing the web pages. There should be more text content then HTML content. You should avoid programs such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver. Such programs will add coding that isn't necessary and also they may add coding errors. The pages should validate and be usable in all of todays leading browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc.). Also look at your web site in a text browser, this will give you good idea of what the spiders see and if it can work with a text browser, it can work with just about any other browser.

Stay away from using Java, Flash, Java script, scripting such as that can trap the spiders, which will result in them not to index your content. Go external with scripting languages if you need them that bad, use something such as CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Your web site should respond almost instantly to requests. If you get into 3 to 4 seconds delay until it loads, you need to cut down on the images and overall web page size. Keep the web page under 20k if at all possible, but keep it at least at 5k. Don't use frames, neither the visitors nor the search engines like it and shouldn't be used for any reason.

Content - Web pages should have 200 to 1500 words. Put your target keywords in bold, underline, heading and italics text. Spiders reads web pages top to bottom and they also know that the main keyword should appear in the first few sentences. Which means your targeted keywords should appear high on the page, within the first few words, also they should be in the middle and towards the end of the articles. The keyword density should be between 5 and 15%, but don't lose sleep over it, just make sure you get a density of 5%.

Meta and Title Tags - Meta tags are thought by many SEO experts to have little impact, If any at all, but it's still recommended, just in case it's still a factor. The description tag is still sometimes used in the search engines as description of the web site, so try to be creative and describe your web page's content and not just for the search engines, but for the visitors as well. Also remember not to use the same description tag for each web page, some search engines may think the page is too much like the other pages and end up banning you.

You should place your top keywords in keyword tag, keep it to 5 to 15, make sure your most important keyword appears first though. The title tag is very important part of the web page. Both the search engines and visitors will see this, so be smart and creative with it. Try to have your most important keyword to appear first and keep it short, there isn't any need for 20 or 30 words to appear in the title tag.

Links - Look around your keyword sector in DMOZ or Yahoo!, you will find many web sites that are useful to your visitors and to your ranking. Try to exchange links with one web site a day. Almost every topic has an on-topic directory, go submit to them. Don't forget DMOZ, Yahoo! or other big name directories. When you receive requests for link exchanges, check the site out before giving the OK. Check to see if they are using any spam techniques and make sure they are listed in the search engines. Also make sure it's a web site similar to your web site's topic.

One way backlinks are the best backlinks a web site can get because most reciprocal link exchanges are only for link popularity and search engines are aware of this growing problem. But they are hard to get, one way to get them is by buying them or an other is by writing articles and allowing others to use them on their own web site for content, along with a link back to your web site.

Insite Cross Links - Link to on topic content across your web site. If a web page is about games, then make sure it links to PS2 games and Xbox games web page. Web pages shouldn't be no more then 3 clicks away from the home page. They should be close to the root as possible.

Submission - Once you have insured you have done all the above, you can submit to the search engines, such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask Jeeves. Really, if you get enough backlinks you won't need to submit to any of them and instead they will find you. There is some debate that submitting to the search engines instead of letting them find you can hurt your ranking, so you may choose to sit back and let them find you. Also note, that by submitting will not speed it up any and in fact the fastest way to get in the index, is by getting backlinks.

SEO Success: Step Three is Creating Long-Term Popularity

by: Chesa Keane

Finally, after the hard-core efforts that are directly related to generating traffic to your website, you next step is to develop a strategy that creates follow-on, long-term traffic. Several methods exist for this Tier III strategy:

- Taking the large list of ancillary keywords that relate directly or indirectly to your website, begin purchasing keyword related domain names that will be used to create traffic driving websites that point to your money site.

- Setup satellite pages using the keyword domain names with the idea of capturing traffic geared toward those specific keywords, developing niche market traffic. As you develop niche markets for those new customers, you are going to be able to capitalize on those customers for the other products and/or services that your company offers when these sites link back to your money site as a result of informing and attracting these new customers through the niche sites.

- Create links, backlinks and cross-links between the satellite pages and your money site, improving your link popularity for all websites, especially your money site.

- Display articles or e-books related to your industry and place these articles on your websites being aware of the best location based on keyword dominance.

- For long-term, viral marketing results, create articles or e-books that you will either sell on your website or offer to public domain websites where your link information must be retained for use by anyone else on the internet; these articles will create links that go back to your money site or your niche sites.

- Follow the same steps in Tier I and II for all the niche sites as you did for your original money site; that is, design a SEO-optimized website and follow Tier II strategy to create the necessary link popularity to drive traffic to these sites.

Monitoring

In order to determine if the SEO efforts are successful, you must monitor results of for number and quality of backlinks, PR and web trend statistics. There are many sources for generating this data as well as programs that will assist in these analyses. Whatever method you choose, whether it is using specific programs or setting up a spreadsheet for entry of data, be consistent in tracking the data. There will be fluctuations from day-to-day that you should expect. You are looking for general, overall upward trends, not short-term blips. Upward progress followed by maintenance of a strong position with slow, steady growth would indicate a successful SEO campaign.

This 3-Tiered approach to SEO Strategy is very effective when implemented with the patience it takes for long-term results. Short-term "fixes" and "tricks" may have an effect in the short-run, but as the search engines change and adapt their algorithms -- as they doing almost monthly -- what worked today for quick results may actually get you banned tomorrow. This strategy is based on search engine directives: Well-designed websites, free of bad code, offering information, services or products of interest to the internet community will create their own base of popularity -- for which you will be rewarded by strong, growing traffic. When you are in it for the long haul, your strategy must utilize long-term efforts.

SEO Success - Step Two is Attracting Search Engine Attention

by: Chesa Keane

Consider implementing these strategies:

- Dynamic content is necessary for search engine recognition, and by updating the website frequently, the search engines see your website as an active, not stagnate, website. How often should changes be made? At the very least, monthly. But the more frequent the changes, the better. There are some tried and true methods you may want to employ:

- Monthly newsletter (or weekly)

- Tip of the day that rotates to the page using a script from an existing database of information at your site

- RSS feed to public news feeds that update hourly or daily at the least

- Changes to contact information, staffing, clients, etc.

- Checking the links frequently to make sure that they are active and valid, and changing the link text from time to time will register as a change to the page

- Simple modification of content from time to time should be done in between these regular maintenance tasks which will update the website

- Good links management will result in a stronger weight given by the search engines for search positioning. The algorithms used for weighting one page over another require link popularity assessment for successful traffic to your website. Link popularity is also one of the main considerations for Google and Alexa Page Rank. How do you achieve link popularity? It can be tedious and requires careful attention to the selection of the links, but there are several means that can be employed:

- Reciprocal Links - Search for relevant and desired web pages with which to trade links

- Purchase Page Rank-based links - boost your relevance and weight in the eyes of search engines by purchasing links for a period of time, three to six months until you have achieved a better ranking

- List with directories - paid or unpaid directory listing that are relevant to your website will give your website additional exposure

- Anchor text - create the links with link text in mind, utilizing relevant keywords where possible

- PageRank consideration - link only with websites that have decent PageRank (PR); i.e., PR of 3 could be a minimum but a PR of 4 would be a better minimum requirement from those pages who want to exchange links with you

- Blogs - web logs linked to your site or posting to popular blogs with your links included to point traffic back to your site; a good strategy is to employ pinging with the blog posting

- Forums - forum participation that allows you to leave your link with the intent of attracting traffic back to your site can get traffic back to your website, however, take care that you actually offer something of value in your posting so you are not accused of spamming

- Search engine listings - listing with the few free search engines and directories is an essential step, although you won't see any results for months

- Gather opt-in email addresses - utilize an email list subscription function on your website with the intent of sending e-newsletters and announcements on a regular basis. This subscription list can be used for several other campaigns, including the sale of advertising space on your newsletter.

- Advertise on ezines - purchase sponsorship on other email lists where you can promote your product and/or services as well as links to your website in the process.

- Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns with Google and Yahoo Search Marketing where you purchase advertising space based on keywords that are popular for your website if you are not in a saturated market. If your business operates in a saturated internet market, seek niche keywords for your PPC advertising. Determine your budget first and from there, you will know how much you can afford for the positioning you desire. It's all mathematical:

- Price Per Click = monthly budget/number of clicks or

- Number of clicks = monthly budget/price per click

Some suitable combination of price and number of clicks based on your own budget will result in a campaign you can monitor and adjust as necessary. The important result to watch for is the conversion rate. How many paid clicks convert into the desired result; i.e., new contract, sale of product, sign up for e-newsletter, etc.

Remember that the website is only the first step. Driving traffic to your site is the next important task. Layout a plan of action and follow-through. You are not going to realize success until you spend the time and energy - or pay someone else for their time and energy - to get the job done.

SEO Success: Step One is Good Web Design

by: Chesa Keane

Creating a well-designed website is the first step in your internet marketing strategy. Once the website has been created and optimized, there are further techniques to employ that will drive traffic to your website for successful, long-term results. You wouldn't consider opening a retail store in a major shopping mall without signage and you shouldn't consider having a nice looking website designed without expanding your web presence in order to be found on the internet. But unless the website is designed correctly to begin with, follow-on SEO efforts will have limited results at best. The following strategy overview is designed to bring about productive SEO results:

- Create an attractive website that is complementary to your company image and provides your targeted audience with information about you, your company and your products and/or services.

- Design a website that has a call-to-action in the form of a purchase or providing you a contact, subscription or other commitment from your visitor.

- Create a successful marketing arm for your overall business promotion and marketing campaign to promote your business, products and/or services with the many follow-on strategies that drive traffic to your website.

- Become competitive in your industry and marketplace by meeting or exceeding the industry marketing standards and attracting a qualified audience for your products and/or services based on a strong reputation.

- Generate and maintain or grow internet traffic to your website resulting in a conversion of traffic into sales of your products and/or services by evolving as your market demands.

This search engine optimization (SEO) strategy is composed of several processes in three stages: 1) Good web design, 2) Attracting attention from search engines and directories, and 3) Creating long-term popularity on the internet. However, it all starts with good web design. Website design is the foundation and beginning of a successful internet marketing strategy. It is true that there are websites on the internet that are unattractive but somehow seem to work. If there are aspects of these websites that work, imagine how well they could do if they simply followed basic design implementation tactics that resulted in a good image as well as simply pushed information out to the viewer.

These basics are essential for Tier 1 success:

- Good web design will complement and enhance the company image and offline marketing campaign products creating a corporate branding if done well.

- Easy, logical navigation that leads the viewer deeper and deeper into the web of information provided by the website will keep the visitor on your site longer and give you more time to sell your products or services.

- Attractive but quick-loading graphics that are pleasing to the eye and meaningful to the website will guide the viewer along the route you decide is important for explaining what you offer.

- Keyword usage that is search engine-friendly depends on how the keywords are utilized, the placement of the keywords, the frequency of the most important keywords and their relevance to the website.

- Website coding that is lean, clean and without errors will keep the search engines happy and your viewer seeing exactly what you intended to offer.

- Relevance of content to the theme of the site is essential. Be concise, to the point and focus on your goals. If you have multiple themes and offerings, consider multiple websites to address the different markets, then tie each website back to the others by linking.

- Changing content that changes frequently and stays fresh keeps your viewer returning and prevents the search engines from treating your website as if it were stale news. A stale site will be ranked lower by the search engines.

Content is king -- it's all about content, content, content. But how that content is presented is what makes the difference.

So What Is SEO?

by: Darryl Antonio

And more importantly why do you need it?

I've taken the liberty to break down this white paper into a few digestible sections. Please feel free to scamper across to the most relevant section that interests you

Table of contents:

1. So, what is SEO?

2. Why is it so important?

3. The 3 things you must do?

4. Who can you trust?

5. What can you expect to achieve?

SO, WHAT IS SEO?

SEO or to use its' full acronym is Search Engine Optimisation. Lots has been said and written all over the net on this extremely demanding topic by every self-effacing Marketing expert today

Indeed, I'm sure if you trawl through a search on Google for the term SEO you will probably find countless entries on the subject and herein lies both the explanation and the ensuing problem

Confronted by a vast number of websites to pursue one's search further, an average searcher will click on perhaps 20 websites to find what he/she is looking for at best

So what happens if your website is ranked from say 30 or 40 or a 100 upwards? The chances are you will be one of the very lucky ones if your website receives any traffic worth mentioning at all

SEO at it's very core if applied correctly is designed to rank a website/webpage, for a pre-defined set of keywords, at the very top of the search engine thereby ensuring that a particular website has more chance of being clicked on than that of its' competitor's ranked below it

This then should mean that a website having been thus optimised naturally rises to the top of the search rankings for those specific keywords. Alas if only life was so simple!

Notice, I did say if correctly applied but how do you know what to optimise and how much to do?

Badly cobbled together webpages with too much optimisation or indeed too little unfortunately end up being either buried in the deep recesses of the results or get shelved by the search engines altogether

WHY IS IT SO IMPROTANT?

Imagine that you have a shop selling ice-cream on a very busy high street full of other ice-cream sellers, each one offering pretty much the same thing that you are

How do you go about attracting customers over your competitors. The answer is that in the real world it is much harder to jostle for the number 1 spot without spending a fortune on advertising, marketing and company branding

Fortunately, in cyberspace given the same scenario the playing field is somewhat easier and a whole lot cheaper too

The secret is getting your webpages right the first time around so that you can take full advantage of table topping rankings and great traffic as a result

But don't worry if you haven't enjoyed much success with your website to date, existing webpages can be tweaked and manipulated to become more search engine and visitor friendly

On page and off page SEO techniques can be applied to catapult your rankings to the very top of the free search engines bringing much needed traffic and more importantly an increase in revenue

Finally, there is also another knock on effect to better rankings but more on that at a later date...

THE 3 THINGS THAT YOU MUST DO?

This section applies to every website owner be it well-established or a fledgling start up

1. Evaluate - Always put yourself in the shoes of your potential site visitor. Looking at it from their perspective ask yourself these questions: Does your website/webpage have the necessary content to attract and keep their attention? Is your message clear, well thought-out? Do you have a strong call to action?

At first this may seem a rather difficult or tedious process, but I always advise my clients to spend some time on it simply because even if you do enjoy top rankings it doesn't always necessarily follow that your sales will also increase as a result

In time however, this will become a part of your thinking process naturally and will stand you in good stead when you decide to launch a new product online or a new website etc;

The key here is to provide the client with what they came to your website for in the first place and in so doing stimulate their buying interest at the same time

2. Monitor - In cyberspace a lot can happen very quickly. I'm sure that almost everyone must be aware of utter havoc created by the Google Florida updates in November of last year

Just to quickly recap, Google started enforcing their guidelines and had grown tired of those website owners using "spammy optimization" techniques and having little or no real content

Google claimed that the change was all part of their continued efforts to improve their search engine results

Some people thought however that it was an over optimization penalty, others a bug perhaps. Whatever it was, Google had upset a lot of people in the process

Apparently, Google understands the fact that people's businesses rely on Google results. Craig Nevill-Manning, Google's Senior Research Scientist, said, for what it's worth, "I apologize for the roller coaster. We're aware that changes in the algorithm affect people's livelihoods. We don't make changes lightly."

Needless to say that the Florida update caught a good many search engine professionals and online business owners off guard demoting previously high-ranking sites and relegating them to the netherworld of Google's search results

The moral of this is to monitor your rankings constantly, do not attempt half-baked spammy optimisation techniques - instead fill your pages with real content and every so often go check out Google's ranking criteria

3. Adapt - The internet marketplace is great place to tap into an ever hungry world wide audience. However, what happens when things go wrong and sadly they sometimes do?

Remember SARS or 9/11 and the ensuing fear of terrorism! It decimated the already sluggish travel industry at the time and while no can predict these events or for that matter what lies ahead with any deal of accuracy it might help to have some contingency plans in mind

For instance, when the fear of international travel was at its' height some companies better prepared than others turned their marketing and their websites to promoting internal travel

Suddenly these companies had access to an hitherto untapped audience interest and as a result grew their customer database and better still increased brand loyalty

WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

So, you've been spammed by innumerable so-say SEO "EXPERTS", all promising the holy grail in online marketing results for your website rankings

So, who do you trust?

As a rule of thumb it's always good to have a few key questions in mind before evaluating whether a company deserves your business or not such as:

a. how long has the company been around for?

b. who are their customers?

c. are they happy for you to talk directly to their customers? (this will usually sort the wheat from the chaff!)

d. the all important results - Can they supply proof of their claims?

And finally the clincher - ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR GUT INSTINCT!

WHAT CAN YOU REALISTICALLY EXPECT TO ACHIEVE?

With the right SEO techniques applied for both on page and off page factors, key selling pages can be turned around to rank highly in the search engines

More highly ranking pages will in turn bring in more unique visitors i.e. potential new customers and if nurtured correctly these new visitors/customers will go on to become loyal customers in the years ahead

Once these key pages begin to feature well, similar optimisation work can be done to subsidiary pages

The idea is to get as many of your webpages to rank as highly as possible thereby spreadbetting your supply options, generating the all important increase in traffic and also acting as a counter against any unforseen problems with search engine algorithm changes etc;

CONCLUSION

In a nutshell therefore, your key pages must have valid content presented in a way that both engages and motivates your target market audience and backed-up by a strong call to action

Get this basic principle of SEO right and your search engine rankings will almost take care of themselves

The bottom line is: Content is what it is really all about from both your target market and a search engine perspective

Promote, Promote, Promote

by: Robert Nixon

Website promoting is easy, all it takes is doing a little of it every day. You should have a plan, however,so you can tackle the wide assortment of places you can promote your site to a few of each at a time. Nothing beats the use of 'submitters' and other types of tools for getting your message out to as many with in as little time as you can, such as to 'networked' sites. Not all submitters are the same, nor do they send your article to the same places to be seen. For this reason, you may want to get a couple of them. As the web is world wide, then why not one based in the United States and another from Europe?

You will still find yourself doing a lot of manual submissions as there are many very good sites to place your message that are not on submitters or tools, yet they are well worth the efforts.

1.These include 'classified' sites, which will allow you to post your message up to 30 days for no charge. You will have to watch your desire to post across the categories with many of them as you will be quickly banned from any postings if you do so. I am so tired of seeing the same advertisement in every category from someone that by doing so, appears to be very desperate. I would never consider even checking out what they are touting for this reason. IF they were getting good results, they would not have to spam the site in the first place. By spamming the site, they show me the product is non-productive and they are desperate to make a buck, or they either don't care or don't know what they are doing. Why would I spend good money on some program where the person representing it is so un-ethical?

2. Even if you use a submitter, you will want to go to the mail box you have entered in the submission to check for 'validated' responses. These are the ones that require you to 'confirm' your posting by clicking on a hyperlink text and then re-entering your e-mail address that you used for the posting. I love these as they tell me that MY advertisement will not be competing with a thousand 'spam' postings. After awhile, you will know which ones they are.

3. Manual submissions:

Some engines will only take manual submissions, even if they are on the list of engines of the submitter you are using. Again, you will, after a period of time, know which these are and if you are smart, will save them as a 'favorite' on your browser, in a separate folder, for when time or your url changes content. Guess what? Even MSN still has a manual free submission site, if you know where to find it. There are some other great engines that are out there and if you are doing your submissions every day, then you will find your 'favorites' also. I like http://searchwarp.com/ among others, because I can submit my url's there and my articles too.

4. Find places that offer you a wide choice of the types of sites to submit to. I have a few on my 'Free stuff' page that you can access at my site http://www.cpucash.net

As you go down the various listings of sites for submission, you will always find a few that are no longer valid or no longer take submissions, but have not notified the listing places or submitters. Take these with a grain of salt and keep moving on.

5. Word of mouth is always a good avenue to pursue. You should be proud and knowledgeable enough about what you are promoting to tell everyone you know about it in a causal manner, of course, with a good testimony about what it has done for you in return for your investment. If your product or service will not stand up to the light of day, then what makes you think others will take your offer?

6. Safe list

Safe list are great and many swear by them. Many make a very good living by using them only. The key to this is your 'headline' being able to get the attention of those that do look at the other's listings. Then you have to make your spiel for your offer, short and to the point but good enough to make them want to 'click' on your url for more information. Here, you can get submitters that only go to safe lists.

The only drawbacks are if the members are indeed reading the postings and if the owners are not spamming you with there 'solo ads'. Remember, many of the owners own more than one safe list and if they send you a daily 'solo ad', then you will get many repeats of the same thing. The ethical owners will only send you an admin message once a month or so and only put the 'solo ads' in the 'safe list' newsletter or up-date and keep the admin messages to reflect what you expect them to be, like new features etc. I made the mistake of belonging to a couple of safe list where the owners were ethical. When I assumed all were the same and actually gave them my personal e-mail as my 'contact' e-mail, was I ever sorry. Do not make this mistake and use a separate e-mail box as your contact box for these also. One good submitter that I use, but here use a different address for your contact e-mail is: http://thesubber.com/sub/index.php?userid=rnixon

Most of all, keep doing your submissions every day and your efforts will pay off. Work your programs and listen to the advice and training the better ones give you. Remember, they want you to achieve because as doing so not only do you make money, they do also by the residual income they get. Any associate program worth the investment today will give you commission on many tiers of your downline, or whatever they desire to call it.

Types Of Keywords

by: Vikas Malhotra

Keyword can be classified into three categories :

-Single word Keyword

-Multiple word Keyword

-Keywords based on Theme

Keyword(s) are basic raw material used in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Keyword selection must be done using Keyword Research where we use special tools to find out a list of Keywords (search terms) searched by targeted audience, recently. Keyword can be single word, two or three words, multiple words and theme based.

Internet Marketing Get Traffic to Your Web Site

by: Wayne Hagerty

We all know about search engines the widely known Internet Marketing monster. What does it take to get listed in search engines and receive high traffic?

Lets start off with the Domain name. If you are planning on starting your own web site and have not chosen a domain name as of yet and want to get targeted traffic from the search engine marketing then consider a good keyword domain that is related to your web site topic. This simple technique has proven to work with search engine marketing for indexing (position) and overall keyword weighting. Now there are other factors to get considered by search engines like properly preparing your meta tags in the html. The meta tags that still hold importance to search are Title Tags, and Description Tags. Keyword tags do not hold the same importance like it use to. Another important factor is on page keywords, these are relevant keywords found on the body text of your website and choosing the proper keywords with relevance, keyword weighting (4-7%), as well as keyword proximity will be the difference between your website getting listed page 40 or page 2 or even page one in search engines.

Another important internet marketing puzzle piece for search engines is link building. This is the process were you get your website links listed on other important websites. There are different ways do accomplish this - reciprocal links and one way linking. Reciprocal linking involves you trading links with other webmasters, be sure that your website topic is relevant to link partners site. The other link building option is one way linking

5 tips to boost your PPC results on Google

by: Ivana Giardi

As costs of PPC campaigns are increasing, internet marketers are more than even under the pressure to deliver positive results. The performance of PPC campaigns is dependent on following factors:

- The impression rate, Your ad position, Click thru rate (CTR) & Conversion rate

Finding the right balance between impression rate, ad position and clicks is the starting point to successful PPC advertising. Before exploring tips to help your campaign perform better, let's quickly sum-up the concept how Google displays your ads in its sponsored results:

* Daily budget controls frequency of your ad display

The frequency is expressed by number of impressions. If your daily budget is not high enough, your ad may not show all the time (meaning you don't have enough impressions per day).

* Ad position depends on the Rank Number

The higher the rank number, the higher is your ad's position on the page. The rank number is calculated based on the following formula:

Rank Number = CPC (Cost Per click) x CTR (click through rate) x (Ad quality)

Now we're ready to explore what practices are more likely to help us improve PPC campaigns performance:

1/ Improve Ad Delivery

If your ad does not show up every time when searches are performed under your keyword, it may be a sign that your daily budget is not high enough. As you now know, how frequent of your ad display is controled by the daily budget. If you would like your ad to be shown more frequently, please consider to increase your daily budget in order to receive a maximum exposure for your ad.

Normally, you have 50% margin for your daily budget. For example, if your desired daily budget is $10.00 per day, you can set your actual daily budget on Google to $15.00 per day, because your actual spending is based on your click thru rate, by setting the daily budget higher will allow your ad to get more exposure, but your actual spending may still be in your desired daily budget range.

However, be sure to monitor your daily advertising costs and if they are rising too high, decrease the budget on the safe level.

2/ Improve Ad Delivery per Keyword

Each campaign can have one or more adroups. An AdGroup is a group of keywords and ads that will display when those keywords are searched for on Google. You may have experienced a situation when only few keywords out of the whole AdGroup trigger your ad. The explanation lies again behind the daily budget that controls a number of impressions for your campaign. These impressions are distributed between individual AdGroups and further between individual keywords. So it may happen that some keywords in a particular Adgroup have more impressions than the others, meaning some keywords trigger your ad more frequently than others.

If you want to improve the ad delivery for your targeted keywords, you can consider splitting your keywords and creating a new campaign for keywords with low impressions. This should improve the frequency with which they will trigger your ad.

3/ Optimize your Adgroups

As mentioned above, each campaign has one or more adroups that all share campaign's impressions. Often, the impressions are not divided evenly between adgroups. So it may happen that some adgroups have more impressions and show their ad(s) more frequently than others. It is a very similar scenario as with keywords we just described above.

To improve results of your low-performing adgroups, you can consider to create a new campaign for them in order to increase the frequency with witch they show your ad on Google.

4/ Analyse your Clicks

Make sure the clicks are made for specific, targeted keywords. If you're getting lots of clicks on non-targeted keywords, consider reducing Max CPC and/or your ad position in order to improve your ROI. Similarly, you can raise bids for targeted keywords that are performing well.

5/ Optimize your Ads

Make sure you bid on targeted keywords, create compelling ads and link them to relevant content on your website. The keywords you chose will segment the market and target your desired audience. If you won't chose wisely, you'll finish targeting the wrong market and wasting your advertising budget. The ad you create needs to attract attention of your prospects. It needs to communicate your unique selling feature - in other words, what makes your product/service different from others and why a visitor should visit your website. Be specific about your offer and include call to action. Lastly, guide visitors to the content on your website where they can access more information about the offer advertised. The landing page should also clearly state what is the next natural step to make - buy your product, download the white paper, sign up for a free trial, etc.

Why Your Website Needs Inbound Links

by: Rick Hendershot

"Traffic" is what linking is all about. Without traffic your website is useless as a tool for selling your products or communicating your ideas. Getting links from other websites is not the only way to generate traffic, but it is probably the most important one.

But how do links generate traffic?

**Direct traffic from links**

First, links generate direct traffic. Links from sites that share your target audience will be an important source of traffic to your site. A visitor to the other web site sees the link to yours, clicks on it, and becomes your visitor. Some estimates put the percentage of internet traffic resulting from this kind of link as high as 21% of total traffic.

Why do people click on these links? One reason is they may view a link to an outside source as an endorsement. They assume the webmaster is saying "Here is a source you will find interesting or helpful". They are looking for the kind of service you provide, so they click on the link to check you out.

But just as important is simple curiosity. Someone sees a text link with intriguing wording like "Powerful Cheap Advertising" or "Win a Free iPod" or "See Pamela Anderson Video" and, depending on their interests, a certain number of people are likely to click on it.

This suggests at least three things about your links. First, you should get as many links as possible on pages your target audience is likely to be visiting. The more people see your links, the more traffic you are likely to get.

Second, your anchor text (the words that are linked) should be intriguing. It should be short and sweet, and suggest a benefit -- a reason for people to click on it.

Third, your links should be on pages that people actually look at. Having hundreds of links on pages that nobody ever looks at will not result in traffic -- at least not direct traffic. Putting your link on a link exchange page containing hundreds of services similar to yours is not likely to generate very many clicks. This is why exchanging links with link directories is such a questionable waste of time. Web visitors rarely look at these directories.

Finding good pages where you can place your link is not always easy. One method is to systematically do searches for your most important keywords -- the search phrases people are likely to use when looking for your kind of product or service. Many of the results will be competitors of yours. But one or two may be secondary sources such as directories or reference pages. Getting your link on some of these secondary sources is almost guaranteed to result in traffic, so it is worth the effort -- and sometimes the cost -- of getting listed in the resources that score high for your keywords.

**Traffic from Search Engines**

The second reason for getting inbound links is to impress the search engines. Most search engines use the quantity and quality of your inbound links to evaluate the importance and relevance of your site to specific keywords. For instance, if you sell a product like "Full Color Vinyl Banners", or you are a Real Estate agent servicing "Kitchener Real Estate", one of your objectives is to rank high for searches done on your primary search phrase (and other similar ones).

This will result in traffic because when people search for your important keywords your site is more likely to show up in the search results. The more inbound links you have that relate your site to full color vinyl banners or web promotion services, or "fill in your keyword here", the higher your site is likely to rank for these terms, and the more search engine traffic you are likely to receive as a result.

**Using Articles to get traffic and impress the search engines**

Embedding your links in articles is one of the best methods of rapidly increasing your inbound links. Many times a well-written article will show up in hundreds of places on the web. And if it has your link embedded in it, that will obviously increase your inbound links. Webmasters pick up these articles because they want content to enhance the value of their sites.

Articles will also generate direct traffic because people who read them are already interested in your subject matter, and are therefore more likely to click on your link.

This suggests that the most valuable place to publish your article is in a themed or categorized article resource. For instance, if your product is "health" related, having it published on health-oriented sites will be more valuable than having it published on generic sites.

You can even take this a step further. If your article is about something more specific like "mesothelioma advice", then getting it published on sites that focus on "mesothelioma" will get more "reads", and have a greater influence on the search engines.

Second, when embedding your link, try to use anchor text that contains one of your important keywords, not just your URL or web address. Remember that search engines are dumb. One of your objectives is to have them relate your website to specific search terms (keywords or key phrases). And the best way to do that is to use them as your anchor text.

How To Be Seen By Search Engines

by: Adrian Lawrence

You've finished your website, and it's beautiful. You ensured it would be content rich; you have a plan to maintain fresh content, whether it's through blogs or rotating content. You hired a professional writer to ensure that your content was keyword optimized for the search engines, to raise its rank. You've even paid attention to tags and how they are focused on your web page, and image descriptions for your graphics.

So now you can submit it to the search engines, right?

Wrong. You don't want to submit at all.

The Right Way To Be Found

Instead of submitting directly to search engines, allow your page to be found naturally. The spiders are constantly running down the trail of every link, cataloguing where pages are and recording them in the search engine database. Allowing your site to be found this way allows it to rise naturally in the search engines as each new link is catalogued and included in your placement algorithm.

What you want, then, is to be found because of links to your site. If you're starting with a fresh slate, you should first list your site with directories. Directories appear similar to search engines, and are used, like search engines, to find sites of interest. But search engines use spiders to fill a dynamic database. Directories, on the other hand, are dependent upon manual registration of each site. If you want your site to show up in directories, you need to do it yourself or pay someone else to do it.

The best part about directories is that each one provides you with a one-way link to your website – the exact thing that the search engine spiders seek out.

The Major Directories

For years, Yahoo! has been recognized as the premier online directory. That's only natural; it started life as a list of Jerry Yang's favourite links in 1994. Today, Yahoo! has both a search engine component, included in 1998 as a feed from Alta Vista, and a directory component. You should submit your site to the Yahoo! directory manually; certain sites may have to pay to be listed.

The other major directory is Dmoz, an open directory that shares its data freely with hundreds of other websites. Dmoz is always free to list with, and is surprisingly underused.

With either major directory, you should list your site by hand yourself; only you can properly determine what category you should appear in, and your categorization is critical to how well you're ranked by the search engines; list in the wrong one, and you won't make a dent.

Other Directories

Besides the major directories, there are thousands of free directories for every imaginable niche market; you should list with any of these that are appropriate to your site content.

In addition to the free directories, there are a number of paid directories you can list with. Though you should first go ahead and register with the larger free directories you find out there, later you should go back and register with some of the paid sites as well. Not everyone will pay to acquire this link, and many of the paid sites are seen by the search engines as more authoritative, and will be weighted more heavily than other directories.

Text Links And Page Rank

by: Daniel Smith

There are literally billions of web pages out there. Everything you can imagine, businesses selling all sorts of goods and services, information for free and for sale. Saying that the internet is a phenomenon is not doing it justice. The internet has, in fact, changed everything. It may sound cliché, but there has arguably never been an invention in the history of humankind that has such a major impact. Indeed, the only thing that may even come close is the advent of agriculture millions of years ago. Understanding the sheer power of the internet is the first step to using it to your advantage and learning how to use the benefits derived from text links is another. There is a universe of opportunity out there if you know how to harness and utilize it and one of the ways to harness the opportunities offered on the Internet is to take advantage of text links to increase your page ranks.

That being said, how do you get your business and your web page noticed among all the billions of other web pages. You may have a product or service that you think is unique, but in truth there are probably many other businesses around the globe selling the exact same product, service, or information that you are trying to sell. Before the internet, all but the largest companies only had to worry about competing with people in the same town; now even smaller businesses have to figure out how to make a name for themselves on the world marketplace to compete.

Start by doing an experiment. Go to your favorite web-based search engine: Google, MSN, Yahoo, Excite, ICQ, Dog Pile, etc. Any one will do for your purposes. Now, type in the keywords for your business, let’s say you sell aromatherapy soap, so you should type in aromatherapy soap into the search engine window. How many different web pages come back? Well, for aromatherapy soap, a search on Google returns nearly 4.5 million web pages. If your potential customer specifies shop in their keyword search, that number dwindles to 1.75 million web pages. That is still a heck of a lot of competition.

It is a well-known fact that people tend to only look at the first page or two of results to find what they are looking for. That means that for your business to succeed on the internet, your business needs to appear as close to the front of that search as possible, in other words, you need to increase your page rank. When people type in the keywords for your business, your business web page needs to appear on the first page or two of the search results. So how can you accomplish this? Keyword density helps, but it will only get you so far. What you really need to increase your page rank is links. You need other sites, many other sites, to provide a link to your site. Not just any other sites either, you need popular sites to link to your website, you need to tap into a network of popular websites. This is by far and away the best way to increase your page rank on Google or any other search engine for that matter.

This may sound like a daunting task, but it really doesn’t have to be. You can get all sorts of links to your website with a minimal amount of effort by making sure you submit your pages to many different web directories. There are many web directories out there on the internet. There are some that are free, while others you have to pay for. Not only are their general interest directories, there are also directories that exist for specific areas. Taking the example used earlier of the business selling aromatherapy soap, you can submit your links to general interest web directories, health and beauty related directories, arts and crafts directories, just be creative.

Another way to increase the number of pages that link to you is to ask appropriate people to review your product. Just like book reviews can propel a book to the top of all the best-seller lists and positive movie reviews can increase box-office sales, positive reviews on you and your product can increase your page rank. Ask people who use your product and liked it to write positive reviews on it. You can offer incentives like a discount, and it would be well-worth it. There are websites that serve as places where ordinary consumers can review products they purchased on the web. Oftentimes, they can post a link to your webpage within their review. Keep in mind, however, that posing as a customer when you are the site owner is not only unethical, it will probably get you shunned from that particular board if you are ever found out. Again, be creative, there are literally thousands of message boards out there designed for the general population to share information about a particular product. Having positive reviews and links to your website will increase your page rank, and the positive reviews will convince people that your product is the best.

Another way to increase your page rank through text links is by placing links to popular, related (but not competing) websites in the text on your webpage. Deep linking, that is linking to a page buried in a particular site is frowned upon, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with linking to the front page of a site. For example, say you are still selling that aromatherapy soap. You can link to the webpage of noted psychologists or other professionals that will vouch for the efficacy of aromatherapy soap. Or say you use only animal-friendly products; you can link to a page that is considered an authority in cruelty free products. By putting the links to popular websites within your website, you are increasing your own page rank.

These are just a couple of the ways that you can use text links to increase your web page’s rank on all of the major search engines. The same rules apply now that have always applied, have a good product and provide great customer service. If you think about it, networking on the web isn’t so different from getting business via word of mouth in your hometown; you just need to go about it a little bit differently.

The Power of Article Submission

by: Dr. Tim Ong

If you're a webmaster, one of the best and most cost effective ways to generate traffic to your website is through article submission. Sometimes one well written article is all that it takes to propel your website to new heights, as is the case with one article I wrote called "Achieving Optimum Health".

After almost five years of webmastering a website for self improvement and doing all kinds of things to get my site noticed, this article literally transformed my online life from one on life support to a progressively profitable online business.

I wrote this article sometime back and submitted it first to SelfGrowth.com and a few other sites. From there, the article was picked up by other webmasters who posted it on their websites. From these new websites, the same process repeated itself... other webmasters picked it up, posted it on their sites and more webmasters picked it up and it goes on and on. It has a viral effect.

How does that benefit me or my website?

For a start, since every webmaster who posted my article on his or her site is required to retain my website link on the resource box, it increases my in-coming links. As you know, more in-coming links to my website means better ranking with Google since it is an indicator of my site popularity and relevancy.

In addition, all these in-coming links increase my website visitors and traffic, and therefore increases my ranking with Alexa.

The best part is that all these increased traffics increase my Google Adsense earnings as well as my affiliate earnings. In addition, all these exposure also increase my visibility on the Internet and raised my profile as well as my authority in the area I wrote about. Also, my newsletter subscriber base expanded.

To actually see how powerful all these are, do these 3 simple steps:

1. Go to Google Search at Google.com.

2. Cut and Paste these search terms into the search box (including the " at the beginning and the end).

"Achieving Optimum Health"+"Tim Ong"

3. Click on the search button.

The results generated will show you that this article - Achieving Optimum Health - of mine is presently being published in more than a hundred websites and directories all over the Net.

Can you imagine what that kind of exposure can do for your online business?

If you need a tool to help you decide on your keywords, try Overture's Search Term Suggestion Tool – it allows you to test your keyword rankings by showing you statistics on recent searches for them. It’s a great tool when you have no clue which keyword you should choose, as it can give you a list of terms that were recently searched on.

Keyword Density.

Keyword density refers to the number of the keywords contained within your text relative to the amount of text there is. Preferred keyword density ratios vary between search engines, but you should generally try to keep them between two and eight percent (major search engines prefer the lower end). Keyword analysis tools can help to optimize a web page’s keyword density. These tools are good if you’re not sure of what you’re doing, as they’re very intuitive and explain things as you go.

Counting the Keywords.

Many SEO experts will tell you that the keyword density of your text isn’t a very important factor, and that you should be careful not to overdo it. So is there a limit? How many times should you use your keywords? SEO experts won’t be able to answer these questions for you, because no-one’s really sure of the answer. The best answer is that it changes regularly, and you can never be sure – you have to experiment to see what works for you.

Location of Keywords.

When testing the effects of keyword location, we found that pages with the keywords at the top and bottom of the page ranked higher on Google than pages with the keywords in the middle.

I trust that what you've read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

Many other search engines also give keywords more or less weight based on their location, but keep in mind that each search engine’s algorithm is different. Here’s a list of how most search engines prioritize keyword positions, from most to least:

1. Domain name.

2. Page title.

3. Headings (i.e. H1, H2, etc.).

4. Body text (the first 2 to 3 KB usually counts more).

5. Meta tags (especially description).

6. Links (including keywords in the URL or link text of links to you).

7. Alt text (the ‘alt’ descriptions for your pictures).

Really, though, keyword density is one of those areas where you’ll have trouble on your hands if you try to second guess the search engines. Be cautious.

As your knowledge about SEO continues to grow, you will begin to see how SEO fits into the overall scheme of things. Knowing how something relates to the rest of the world is important too.

Amazing Secrets Of A Little Known Traffic Generation MASTER

by: Daegan Smith

So, you've set up your first website in the hope that you can attract more visitors to your business. You've worked a few months planning, designing, developing and paying for a great web host. All that remains to be done is for you to step back, and marvel at your creation, and wait for the visitors to come gushing in.

And so you, wait – and wait, and wait, and wait.

But the visitors don't come gushing in. Your store is open, but the customers are not there. Your beautiful website just sits there while the dust gathers at its feet.

You don't get it.

There are billions of web users who are desperately searching for their needs. Their needs may actually be the service or product you are offering. How can direct all these people to your website?

Well, the good news is, there is hope. The amazing truth of the internet is that your company, no matter how small or large has a chance at generating huge amounts of traffic if you learn a few neat tricks of traffic generation.

Get Inside the Engine

If you want traffic to come crashing at your door, you need to know how internet users learn of the sites that interest them. There are quite a few ways how one learns of websites of interest: print ads, spot ads, referrals from friends, and others. But the most important and widely used avenue is the search engine.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo search, and MSN search all rely on a simple procedure. They have special 'spiders' that crawl all over the web visiting sites to index them and collect data about them. The spiders then use this data in generating results of any number of search queries.

To rank highly in the results page a normal site will have to wait a few months or so. But you can accelerate that rise by following the following tips.

Turn Your Site to Gold

If you want your site to immediately hit the top spot at the search results page you need to know what attracts the search engines' spiders the most.

1. Keywords

These spiders are constant looking for the content of these pages. If your website contains juicy keywords that directly relate to your business. The chances of having your site increase in popularity are better. You can put these keywords in either your tag or within your article itself.

For example, a site that sells cars should have the following words saturating his page: car, auto, sales, automobile, van, SUV, truck, and so on.

2. Index Your Pages

Spiders move from site to site, and from page to page by following the links that are listed in every page they visit. If you have pages that are not listed in your index page, there is a big possibility that the spiders will miss those pages. So make sure all your links are, as much as possible, at the index page. If not, at least make sure there is a direct and easy path from the index page to every page in your site.

It also helps if you have other sites whose links point to you. So get all your friends who have good sites up to show a link that leads to your site.

3. Optimize your content

Remember rule number1? Keywords have a great impact on a web site's popularity. However, spiders are also aware that some sites abuse the use of keywords. And they know how to act accordingly. Instead of getting a better ranking, you might find your ranking falling instead.

You could add more and better content to your site. This allows you to increase the keyword density in your website without abusing any search engine rules. Examples of this would be to link tutorials, essays, and other material to your site. If these materials are keyword rich, that would increase the ranking of your web site.

4. Paid Advertisements and Directories.

You could also have your site advertised by Google or have it listed on the Yahoo directory. It may cost you money, but it does accelerate your rise to prominence faster.

Try Mixing Them Up

Mix and match these various strategies according to your needs and your capabilities. Soon enough, you will find your website up there among the most popular in the land. And as for the traffic? You'll have so much traffic you won't have time to close your gates.

Writing and Submitting Articles. Why Is It Important?

by: Gunnar Berglund

The importance of writing and submitting articles is the fact that you won’t get the word out about what you believe in strongly enough to put on paper, unless someone is there to read it. If you write salesletters but you don’t write and submit articles, there is almost no point to it. Of course it’s always nice to read your own writing after you write an article. But wouldn’t it feel better to know that you have touched someone else’s life by writing and submitting articles for other people to read? In all shapes sizes and fashions, people love to read.

Take a look at every magazine, newspaper and website in production today. Writer’s filled those pages with content. The importance of it is that you would be looking at nothing if someone didn’t write and submit articles to the publication. Every single writer contributes to this content or there would be no books, papers, or billboards.

Most of the time, the content that fills these pages are very well written pieces, things people saw potential in so they would write and submit the articles. You can find potential in almost every aspect of genres, so to write and submit articles on a subject you love would not be hard to do. The importance of writing and submitting articles ultimately ends with you and your beliefs. If you don’t believe your written article is good enough for publication, you may find that you don’t feel it is important to write and submit this article. You may feel that your work just isn’t that great. You may not feel the need to re write it, but instead to destroy it. It’s not uncommon that there are tons of articles on a daily basis that are never going to be submitted let alone published.

If we took the time to write and submit at least one article per week, we would be able to contribute our individual point of view to the world. That is probably the most important reason to write and submit articles. You can submit articles online, or you can submit articles on hard copy. It’s up to the writer, and the importance each person puts on their own work will determine it’s potential to be published. You can write and submit an article to a website, or write an article to a magazine. Whichever you prefer, you can’t give up writing articles. Even when you don’t succeed at first, you can find a publication where you’re article will fit.

Think about it. If you don’t credit your own work with any importance, how do you expect anyone else to? It is important to hold yourself to your own high standards, write an article, submit the article, and see what happens. Before you know it you can contribute to the content you see everyday, everywhere. Now that’s important.

What Professional SEO Can Do

by: Glenn Ford

The amazing thing is that professional SEO services are not expensive and yet they can make a huge difference to any web site or blog, in terms of the traffic and ultimately the revenue they receive..

Professional SEO services can only be provided by an individual or business with a thorough understanding of how search engines work and the implications of the frequent changes the said search engines usually make.

Professional SEO Helps To Grow Traffic

The first and most important thing that professional SEO should do is dramatically increase traffic by ensuring that the client web site is highly visible through a prominent page ranking. A prominent page ranking will mean that the web site will score highly again and again during searches which will in turn guarantee that a sizeable amount of the people carrying out searches using various key words, end up visiting the web site. This can translate to tens of thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of visitors every month.

Professional SEO Will help Sustain A Web Site's high Ranking

It is true that anybody with some good knowledge on search engines can easily achieve the feat of getting a site to climb up the ranks in key searches and thus direct hordes of traffic to the client web site. But then this is only half the battle. It takes a really professional SEO service to keep a client up there in the rankings. What with the frequent adjustments and changes leading search engines make that have resulted in ruin for many web sites.

The real terror in the hearts of many web masters is waking up one morning and finding that their hard won search engine rankings have evaporated and with it the sizeable daily traffic that makes their sites work.

Professional SEO works hard to ensure that their strategy and game plan will keep the client web site high in search engine rankings for a long time to come. All prospective users should ask any Professional SEO firm for tangible evidence through references. If the SEO firm is any good they will be glad to provide (brag) references to you. If they do, do not take the references at face value. Contact these past or current clients and ask them questions on their level of satisfaction with the SEO firm in question.

Does SEO Marketing Really Work?

by: Glenn Ford

SEO Marketing or Search Engine Optimization not only works but in fact is highly effective and has been responsible for transforming many unknown web sites into popular destinations on the World Wide Web today.

To date no other online marketing tools or methods have proved to be anywhere near as effective as SEO marketing techniques. This is hardly surprising when a vast majority of the traffic that visits web sites is still coming from search engines. SEO marketing is centered on search engines and focuses on optimizing search engine rankings.

In recent times the main search engines have been constantly changing and modifying their rules and at times, this has caused great panic amongst many web masters. In some instances changes introduced by leading search engines have caused their ranks to slip to oblivion thus wiping out their daily traffic instantly. This has been distressing more so because web masters quite often spend a lot of time and money on SEO marketing to get their web sites to climb the ranks in search engines.

This is one of the reasons why one should be very careful when appointing somebody to work on their SEO marketing. There are many techniques which bring quick results but are definitely not in the long term interests of the web site and its' owner. People need to understand that the aim of the search engines is to ensure that the search results their users get are as complete and accurate as possible, in terms of the keywords used.

So what are these methods? To name a few:

o Blogs with RSS feeds

o Article Writing and Distribution

o Link Building Services

o Press Releases

o Content Page Exchange and Buyouts

o Directory Submission Services

All of these and more are proven SEO marketing techniques and how an SEO firm implements some of these, such as link building, can be the difference between high success and mediocre results.

Therefore any SEO marketing decisions made with the end user in mind is bound to help a site enjoy long term benefits and traffic, irrespective of what changes search engines make. This is the sort of SEO marketing that will continue to work for the web site in question for a long time to come.
